Terry Wallace posts a 1979 International Tracing Service document listing 271,301 documented deaths in a selection of concentration camps, the familiar implication being that this somehow disproves the Holocaust death toll.

It does nothing of the kind. The document counts deaths for which that archive then possessed individual camp documentation. It is not a total of Jewish Holocaust victims, nor does it claim to be.

The archive itself explains that its records exclude countless people murdered immediately upon arrival at killing centres, by the Einsatzgruppen, on death marches, at the time of arrest and in numerous ghettos. Auschwitz commonly registered only prisoners selected for labour; many Jews sent directly from the railway ramp to the gas chambers were never registered as inmates.

Wallace presents an incomplete administrative tally as though it were a final body count. That is not arithmetic—it is Holocaust distortion wearing reading glasses.
